Day 1: International Arrival
Arriving into Lima, your transfer driver will meet you at the airport, and transfer you in private to the Faraona Grand Hotel; once you have settled in your tour controller will arrive to give an informative briefing on the days ahead. He will issue you with your flight tickets and travel vouchers along with a local mobile phone which will have all of your guides contact information. You will be able to ask any questions you may have at this point before your guide will offer to escort you on a short walk around the immediate area to familiarise yourself to the places of interest to you. No meals included.
Day 2: Flight to Cusco & private Sacred Valley tour 08:59 – 10:09
After an early breakfast at your hotel you will be met by your driver for the private transfer to the airport to meet your flight to Cusco. On arrival into Cusco at you will be met by your local guide who will help you with your luggage before beginning the drive out of Cusco for your relaxed private tour of Cuzco and the Sacred Valley; this tour is unique and extended only provided by Peruvian Secrets, avoiding the many “tourist outlets” you can spend more time enjoying the many Inca sites. On leaving Cuzco the first and one of the most important Inca sites to visit is Sacsayhuaman, one of the best examples of Inca stonework, still being discovered as larger than first thought. From here you will travel to a variety of sites including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before taking the stunning scenic journey to the small village of Pisac, a picturesque town which is the gateway to the Sacred Valley. Here you will have an opportunity to view many of the local artisans work in the famous market before we transfer to the restaurant for a late lunch (not included). After Lunch you will continue along the Sacred Valley to the small village of Ollantaytambo where you will check into the Hotel Samanapaq. Here you can refresh before we make our last tour to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. Here you will have a tour of the final Inca site with everything you see explained to you by your knowledgeable guide. Afterwards you will return to the hotel and can relax and enjoy your beautiful surroundings. Meals: Breakfast
Day 3: free day to explore Sacred Valley
Time to acclimatise is important and today you can continue to explore this beautiful area independently. You may wish to visit the Salt mines of Maras which can be reached via a taxi or enjoy a ride through the valley by local bus jumping off in places you feel like visiting. You will once again overnight in the comfortable Hotel Samanapaq. Meals: Breakfast
Day 4: Train journey to Aguas Calientes Peru Rail Vistadome 303 13:27 – 14:50
This morning after breakfast you will have time to prepare your overnight carryon bag and put your main luggage into the hotel safe storage. At the appropriate time your hotel porter will transfer you to the train station. Here you will take the wonderful rail journey (1hr 20 minutes) to Aguas Calientes, offering great panoramic views the route takes you through the changing microclimates into the higher reaches of the Amazon. On arrival you will be met by your hotel representative at the station meeting point and escorted to the comfortable Taypikala Hotel for your check-in. The rest of the afternoon is free to take a lunch and explore either this busy village or take a stroll along the river to enjoy the tropical flora and fauna. The evening offers a welcomed opportunity to relax in preparation for the following full day’s visit to Machu Picchu. As well as being the obvious starting point for any visit to Machu Picchu, the town is also famous for its hot springs, (agua = water, caliente = hot), just remember to pack your swimming costume! Day 5: Picchu + Return to Ollantaytambo Peru Rail Expedition 504 16:22 – 18:10
This is an ideal opportunity to be the first visitors to enter the ruined city of Machu Picchu, thus giving you the chance to witness the spectacular sight of appearing like magic through the early morning cloud. You will also have relative peace, as only people who stay in Aguas Calientes or entering off the Inca Trail has this option. Later in the day it gets very crowded as the trains arrive, an early start allows you plenty of time to explore. In order to maximise your enjoyment Peruvian Secrets provides the services of a private professional guide who will reveal some of the mysteries that surround this fascinating place. After your visit, you will return to Aguas Calientes, where you can take lunch before you collect your bag, transfer to train and board the train to Poroy station just outside of Cuzco. Here you will be met by your driver who will transfer you the Hotel Midori for check in. you will then have the rest of the evening free to relax and enjoy your comfortable hotel and explore the city by night. Day 6: Free day Cusco
Today you are free to explore the ancient city of Cusco. Declared a UNESCO world heritage in 1983 the city boasts an ancient network of catacombs to explore, a great many varied historical and cultural sites of interest and many of the buildings that stand there today are built on foundations laid by the Incas. You also have the choice of taking one of the many optional tours that operate in the area surrounding Cusco which is also rich in culture and heritage, your guide can assist you in any arrangements that you wish to make. You will again overnight in the Hotel Midori Meals: Breakfast
Day 7: Tourist bus to Lake Titicaca, Puno.
After an early breakfast you will be met by your guide for the short transfer to the coach terminal where you will board the very comfortable tourist coach to Puno. The service includes a guide and hostess to explain everything you will see; several stops are made on route at places of interest with lunch in a buffet style restaurant is included. On arrival into Puno you will be met off the coach by your guide and transferred to the ideally located Hotel Qalasaya with its high rooms offering great views. You will have a short briefing at the hotel and can explore the evening in this bustling town Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 8: Lake Titicaca full day tour
After breakfast today, you will be met once again by your guide who will transfer you to the harbour in Puno where you will board a shared service vessel and head out on to the Great Lake Titicaca. The first port of call will be the incredible floating islands of the Uros; here you will see the way these people live on these most unusual islands. From here you continue onto the Island of Taquile where your guide will escort you around explaining all about the way of life for these people. Their lifestyle has remained the same for hundreds of years with very little influence from modern times, thus preserving many traditions, laws and customs. Skilled crafts are still very important to the inhabitants of Taquile, and the island is famous for its handmade textiles which are regarded amongst the highest-quality handicrafts available. For this reason, you will find that they are higher in price in comparison with other mass-produced handicrafts readily found in other parts of Peru. After exploring you will then have the opportunity to have lunch before re-joining your boat for the return journey back to Puno. You will have the rest of the evening free to relax in the Hotel Qalasaya. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 9: Flight to Lima
At the appropriate time you will be transferred to Juliaca airport (45 minutes) to meet your flight to Lima. On arrival you will be met by your driver who will transfer you in private to the Faraona Grand Hotel. Once you have checked in you have the rest of the day free to explore Lima “City of Kings” Meals: Breakfast
Day 10: International return flight
Today you will have some of the day free in Lima “City of Kings.” Your hotel is ideally located in the pleasant district of Miraflores and offers the ideal base from which to explore the city. Your tour controller can also help you to arrange private tours of the city if you wish (discussed on Day 1 arrival). At the appropriate time your driver will meet you for the transfer to the airport. Meals: Breakfast
Day 11: Flight to Quito
Today you will have an early start as you are collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport to meet your international flight to the Ecuadorian capital of Quito. On arrival into Quito you will be met by your local hotel representative who will transfer you to the comfortable and charming Posada Mirolindo Hotel. This hotel is located a short distance from the airport offering the ideal stopover before heading out to the Galapagos.
Day 12: Flight to Galapagos & board the M/Y Darwin
Today you will enjoy breakfast at your hotel before you are collected for your private transfer to the airport to meet your morning flight out to the Galapagos Archipelago. On arrival at Baltra airport you will pass through the strict immigration and customs checks and will need to pay the $100 per person entrance fee to the islands and the $20 transit card. Once you have passed through the airport you will be met by a cruise representative who will transfer you, and any other passengers for the Darwin, to the port where the yacht is moored. Once on board the Yacht you will be given an informative briefing on the days ahead before meeting the crew and being shown to your cabins. While you are settling in the Darwin will navigate to the first stop of your cruise. After enjoying lunch on board you will make a wet landing on Bachas Beach. Located on the North Shore of Santa Cruz, Las Bachas offers excellent swimming and snorkelling opportunities, the area is also home to one of the few remnants of the American WWII presence in the archipelago. After exploring the beach with your guide you will return to the Darwin for your evening meal and some leisure time. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 13: San Cristobal island
Today you will wake to the gentle sounds of waves lapping against the hull, after enjoying breakfast you will have a short briefing on the day’s activities, before you head out with your guide to explore San Cristobal Island. Starting by making a wet landing at Pitt Point you will explore the area with your guide. Pitt point is home to some of the endemic species of the Galapagos such as Lava Lizards and Red-Footed Boobies. The area also has an impressive viewpoint if you hike up the trail to the lookout. If you are lucky you may also spot the Chatham Mockingbird which can only be found on San Cristobal Island. Once you have explored the area with your guide you will return to the Darwin where lunch will be served. In the afternoon you will return to San Cristobal, this time to Cerro Brujo. This beautiful white sandy beach is home to pelicans, sea lions, iguanas and more, you can also snorkel in the clear waters. Once you have explored the area with your guide and observed the different species found there you will return to the Darwin for your evening meal and another night of relaxation on board the yacht. Day 14: The Islands of San Cristobal
Today you will explore two of the islands just off the shores of San Cristobal. Starting with a visit to the iconic Leon Dormido formation, these two large rocks that rise out of the ocean are home to large colonies of sea birds, the waters around Leon Dormido are also excellent diving sites where you are likely to see many different kinds of reef fish as well as different shark species. You will not make any landing here but can enjoy a boat ride around the rocks and do some snorkelling or diving. After enjoying the wonders of Leon Dormido, you will return to the Darwin where lunch will be served. In the afternoon you will head to Isla Lobos. Making a wet landing here you will explore the area with your guide. This small island is home to a large sea lion colony, and it is one of the best sites in the Galapagos for swimming with the playful sea lions. The island is also home to a range of bird species including Blue-Footed Boobies, Great Frigate Birds, Pelicans, Lava Gulls and much more. Once you have had ample time to enjoy this small island you will return to the Darwin to enjoy your final night on board the vessel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 15: End of Cruise and check into Hotel SolyMar Puerto Ayora
Today you will enjoy your final breakfast on board the M/Y Darwin, after saying goodbye to the crew you will head out for your final excursion of the cruise, a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station. This international not-for-profit organisation conducts research and provides assistance to ensure the proper conservation and preservation of the Galapagos Archipelago. The station is also home to a Giant Tortoise breeding project and you can witness the different stages of tortoise growth from newborn up to maturity. Your guide will lead you on a tour of the station which will highlight the work they do in preserving the archipelago’s eco-system for the generations to come. After touring the station you will be taken to the transfer vehicle which will transfer most of the passengers to the airport. You will only take the transfer vehicle to the nearby Hotel Solymar Puerto Ayora where you will check into your comfortable rooms. This oceanfront hotel offers comfortable and stylish lodgings and is the perfect way to top off a Galapagos Cruise and enjoy a wonderful birthday treat. Once you are settled in you can relax and enjoy the facilities of this beautiful hotel. Meals: Breakfast
Day 16: Flight back to Quito
After a relaxed breakfast you will be transferred to the airport at Baltra to meet your flight back to mainland Ecuador. On arrival back into Quito you will be met by your local hotel representative who will transfer you to the comfortable and charming Posada Mirolindo Hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax from your amazing adventure. Meals: Breakfast
Day 17: International departure
Today you may have some free time ahead of your, at the appropriate time you will be collected from your hotel and transferred in private to the airport to meet your flight (note that check out time is 11.00 am however the hotel will be happy to store your luggage until you depart for the airport). Your guide will ensure you arrive with plenty of time to check in before wishing you farewell. Meals: Breakfast
The price of your tour as described in the itinerary, based on two people in a matrimonial room is £4,250.00 per person based on two passengers sharing matrimonial rooms/cabins.
