Day 1: International Arrival
Arriving into Lima, your transfer driver will meet you at the airport, and transfer you in private to the Faraona Grand Hotel; once you have settled in your tour controller will arrive to give an informative briefing on the days ahead. He will issue you with your flight tickets and travel vouchers along with a local mobile phone which will have all your guides contact information. You will be able to ask any questions you may have at this point before your guide will offer to escort you on a short walk around the immediate area to familiarise yourself to the places of interest to you. No meals included.
Day 2: Journey to Paracas
After breakfast today your tour guide will meet you at your hotel to transfer you to the bus station where you will board your comfortable coach departing at 14:00. This journey will take you along the Pan-American Highway to the coastal town of Paracas (4 hours approx). On arrival into Paracas you will be met by your local guide and transferred to the Hacienda Bahia hotel. After checking in your guide will give you a quick briefing and will answer any question you may have. The remainder of your day is free at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities or walk by the beach to see the sunset. Meals: Breakfast
Day 3: The Ballesta’s Islands + Nazca lines flight
Today you will be collected from your Hotel at 7:40 am by your guide and be taken to the nearby lakeside port for your trip to the “Mini Galapagos” to visit the amazing wildlife reserve on the Ballesta’s Islands. These densely colonized islands are home to a wide variety of marine and bird life which can include pelicans, cormorants, gannets, boobies, Humboldt penguins, sea lions and the occasional dolphin! Returning to the harbour you will re-join your guide who will return you to your hotel. You will then have some free time before you are collected by your guide and transferred to the bus station for your onward journey to Nazca departing at 10:40, on arrival you will be transferred to the Casa Andina Classic Hotel where you can rest from travel and await your flight over the lines. At the appropriate time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight over the famous lines and returned to the hotel once completed. You will then have the rest of the day free to relax and explore the town of Nazca. Meals: Breakfast
Day 4: Coach to Arequipa
Today you will have the morning free in Nazca, as your coach to Arequipa departs at 14:30 you will have the opportunity to take your Nazca lines flight this morning if weather conditions meant you could not take the flight yesterday. After lunch you will be collected by your guide and transferred to the coach station to meet your comfortable coach to Arequipa. On arrival into Arequipa at 23:00 you will be met by a local guide and transferred to the comfortable and charming Posada del Monasterio for check in. You can then relax and get some rest in your comfortable room. Meals: Breakfast & refreshments on the coach
Day 5: Free day to explore and acclimatise
Now is a good time to rest and take a breath for a further day in the beautiful ‘White City’. A little time to acclimatise to altitude is useful, before you head off to the high Altiplano. Highlights that you can visit in Arequipa, either independently or during an arranged tour (local payment), include the beautiful Monasterio de Santa Catalina and the nearby museum, which is home to the mummy of ‘Juanita ~ the Ice Maiden’. She was found on the summit of Ampato, a volcano in the region, and is thought to be an Inca sacrifice, chosen at birth and raised with the sole purpose of her sacrifice to the Gods in mind (this would have been a great honour), before being marched all the way from Cusco to her final resting place near Arequipa. The night is spent once again in Posada del Monasterio. Meals: Breakfast
Day 6: Colca Canyon small group tour with guide
After breakfast departure is at 7:30 from Arequipa, crossing 160 Km to the town of Chivay, capital of the Province of Caylloma. Leaving behind Arequipa you will enjoy the majestic views of Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu volcanoes before entering the National Reserve of “Pampa Cañahuas”. Here you will make a stop to observe the wild Vicuñas in its natural habitat and also see Alpacas which are abundant in this area. At this point we will be around 3,400 meters above sea level. Continuing to “Pata Wasi”, (Pata=high Wasi=home) an Andean community in the opposite border of the reserve, here it is interesting to see the natural formation of the rocks and a view of the other side of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes. To prevent altitude sickness we will enjoy an original Andean “Mate de Coca” drink in Sumbay, 3,800 meters above sea level. Continuing on the road we will pass through “Tocra” over the 4,500 meter high mountains, where we will observe the lakes with migrant birds and we’ll get pictures of the “Antiplano” (highland) with its llamas and Guanacos. Our highest point will be “Pata Pampa” located at 4,820 meters, where we’ll observe the volcanoes Ampato, Sabancaya, the Hualca-Hualca, the Mismi) and the “Cordillera de Chila”. Arriving to the town of Chivay (3,651meters) we continue the short distance to the Hotel Mamayacchi. After finding our rooms, we will enjoy a traditional Peruvian lunch (not included). You are then free to relax and enjoy this quiet scenic setting or visit the thermal baths (take a swimsuit for this). Meals: Breakfast
Day 7: Chivay – Cruz Del Cóndor – Puno
Today you will take breakfast very early in the morning (around 6:00 a.m.), so we can leave to the famous “Cruz Del Condor” point, as early as possible. Before we approach the “Cruz Del Condor” we will make a stop at the look-out point of “Choquetico”, with its “Tumbas colgantes” (hanging tombs). Also we will visit the town of Maca, an Andean community that experienced an earthquake in November of 1991. Arriving to the “Cruz Del Condor” view point you will wait to see the spectacular sight of the Condors as they climb out of the Canyon on the morning thermals. After taking pictures of the majestic flight of the Condors, we will return to our transportation and will start the drive out of the Colca Canyon back to Chivay where you can have lunch and a rest before continuing to Peru. Rejoining your vehicle you will be crossing the Alta Plano to the town of Puno, set on the banks of the Great Lake Titicaca. On your late afternoon arrival to Puno you will check into the comfortable Qalasaya Hotel. Once you have settled into your rooms you will be met by your local guide for the duration of time in this area, they will give you a short briefing on your tour and be happy to answer any questions you may have. After the briefing you will have the rest of the evening free to explore the exiting centre of the city. Meals: Breakfast
Day 8: Lake Titicaca full day tour shared vessel
After breakfast today, you will be met once again by your guide who will transfer you to the harbour in Puno where you will board a shared vessel and head out on to the Great Lake Titicaca. The first port of call will be the incredible floating islands of the Uros; here you will see the way these people live on these most unusual islands. From here you continue onto the Island of Taquile where your guide will escort you around explaining all about the way of life for these people. Their lifestyle has remained the same for hundreds of years with very little influence from modern times, thus preserving many traditions, laws and customs. Skilled crafts are still very important to the inhabitants of Taquile, and the island is famous for its handmade textiles which are regarded amongst the highest-quality handicrafts available. For this reason, you will find that they are higher in price in comparison with other mass-produced handicrafts readily found in other parts of Peru. After exploring you will then have the opportunity to have lunch before re-joining your boat for the return journey back to Puno. You will have the rest of the evening free to relax in your comfortable lodgings. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 9: Tourist coach tour to Cusco
Today you will have an early breakfast at your hotel as your guide will come to collect and transfer you to the coach station for your 06:50 departure with the Inka Express coach service. This coach journey will take you away from Puno and towards Cusco visiting sites of interest along the route known as the Route of the Sun and a buffet lunch will be taken in a restaurant during the day which is included. Arriving into Cusco at approximately 17:20 you will be met at the bus stop by your local guide, after introductions you will be transferred to your comfortable hotel, the Midori Hotel. After settling into your room you will be given a short briefing by your guide, this will inform you of the plans for the days ahead and will be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Once the briefing is complete your guide will leave you to enjoy the rest of your evening at leisure. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 10: Free day Cusco
Today you are free to further explore the ancient city of Cusco. Declared a UNESCO world heritage in 1983 the city boasts an ancient network of catacombs to explore, a great many varied historical and cultural sites of interest and many of the buildings that stand there today are built on foundations laid by the Incas. You also have the choice of taking one of the many optional tours that operate in the area surrounding Cusco which is also rich in culture and heritage, your guide can assist you in any arrangements that you wish to make (Local payment to guide). Day 11: Sacred Valley Tour private service
Today you start your relaxed tour of the Sacred Valley, taken wholly in private, in the comfort of your guide’s own car. On the way you will visit Sacsayhuaman, one of the best existing examples of Inca stonework, with spectacular views of Cuzco below and far-away snowy peaks. From here we will travel to a variety of sites on the way into the valley, including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before arriving at the small, picturesque village of Pisac. This is the gateway to the Sacred Valley and home of the famous daily Pisac craft market; here you have an opportunity to view the many artisans’ wares on display including; textiles, jewellery and ceramics. Because your tour is in private, there will be ample opportunity to stop to take photographs along the way and to enjoy a leisurely lunch in a local eatery (lunch not included), as recommended by your guide. Arriving into Ollantaytambo, you will take in the spectacular ruins of the fortress with your guide. After your tour you will be transferred to the nearby Samanapaq Hotel where you will check in before enjoying the rest of the afternoon at leisure in this charming hotel. Meals: Breakfast
Day 12: Train to Aguas Calientes
You will enjoy a relaxed start to the day as you first take breakfast at your hotel. Later in the morning you will be transferred to the train station to meet your 11:15 departure to Aguas Calientes arriving at 12:35. The train will take you out of the Sacred Valley and into the mountains offering spectacular views of the countryside. On arrival into Aguas Calientes at you will be met by a representative of your hotel who will escort you to the very comfortable La Cabana Machu Picchu for check in, once you have checked in you will have the rest of the day free to relax and explore the interesting town of Aguas Calientes. Day 13: Machu Picchu + Return Cuzco
This is an ideal opportunity to take the first transport up to the ruined city of Machu Picchu giving you the chance to witness the spectacular sight of the city appearing like magic through the early morning cloud. In order to maximise your enjoyment from your visit, Peruvian Secrets provides the services of a professional local guide who will reveal some of the mysteries that surround this fascinating place. When you are finished you can take the bus to Aguas Calientes where you collect your luggage from your hotel and transfer to the train station to take the return train journey to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival you will again be met for your transfer back to Cuzco by road, stopping at the Samanapaq hotel to collect your luggage. On arrival back into Cusco you will check into the Midori Hotel once again. The evening is free to take in a restaurant and enjoy the Inca Capital. Meals: Breakfast
Day 14: Free day Cusco
Today you will have a further day free in the ancient city of Cusco, this will be the ideal time to take any additional tours or treks you may care to arrange with your local guide. This can include the full day tour to Rainbow Mountain or arrange for a private guided tour of the city (Local payment to guide). Speak to your local guide on arrival into Cuzco who will be able to help you make any arrangements you desire. Meals: Breakfast
Day 15: Return to Lima
Today you will have most of the morning free to relax and enjoy your hotel, in the late morning you will be transferred in private to the airport for your short flight back to Lima. On arrival you will be met by your driver who will transfer you in private to the comfortable Faraona Grand hotel for check in. You will then have the rest of the evening free to explore Lima “City of Kings”. Meals: Breakfast
Day 16: International Departure
Today you will need to prepare for your international departure. You will be met at the appropriate time by your guide and driver for your transfer to the airport. You will check in and say goodbye to your guide and depart on your international flight. Meals: Breakfast
