Exclusive three-day Lake Titicaca tour

for 2007, our exclusive three-day tour of Lake Titicaca
offers a real insight into the way of life for families
living on the lake. This tour can be easily incorporated

Day 1 Lake Titicaca, stay on island with local
family overnight
Today you start your exclusive three day tour of the lake
and its people. You will be collected from your hotel and
transferred to the port by your local guide. Here you will
join a shared service vessel and head out onto the lake.
Your first visit will be to the floating islands of the
Uros Indians where your private guide will explain the culture
and just how they manage to live in this different environment.
Re-boarding your boat you will continue heading into the
lake before arriving at the beautiful Island of Amantani.
You will at this point be separating from the crowd and
continuing onto our private port. Here you will be meet
by your host Santos and family to whom you will be a guest
in his home. Along with your guide you will have an excellent
opportunity to experience the life these friendly people
live mixed with a truly unique experience. Your home stay
offers spectacular views over the lake and stunning sunsets
leading to a sky filled with stars. In the evening your
host will give you an insight into the islands history all
translated through your guide so you will understand everything
that is explained to you. |

Day 2 Visit to
Inca ruins with traditional lunch
Today you can enjoy a relaxed start to the day with a hearty breakfast
as the other tourist depart for Taquile Island leaving you the
day to really enjoy this stunning place. Santos will prepare the
horses (the only ones on the island) for your scenic ride to the
top of the mountain. At the summit is a plateaux of farmland divided
into family plots. Its here Santos will construct the traditional
oven from the soil and rocks to prepare you a hot lunch. While
this takes place you will learn about the agriculture and farming
methods that go back unchanged for hundreds of years. From here
you will continue to the Inca ruins at the peak of the island
and have spectacular panoramic views across to Bolivia and the
extremely high peaks of the Andes (7,000 mts). Later in the afternoon
you will return to the homestead and enjoy a relaxing time before
your evening meal.
Day
3 Returning to Puno
After we have had breakfast and said goodbye to our host family
we rejoin our boat for the visit to the neighbouring island of
Taquile. Here you leave the boat and taking the one-hour coastal
walk to the village. Our guide will give you a tour of the Inca
ruins and bring to life some of the incredible history before
descending down to the village for lunch. Here you will the opportunity
of sampling the delicious freshwater fish of Lake Titicaca. We
will then rejoin our boat and return to Puno for one further night.
