Day 1 Arrive
Lima
Arriving into Lima your Peruvian Secrets Tour Controller
will meet you at the airport, and transfer you to the Hotel Faraona,
Mira Flores. Your guide will return to give a small evening tour
of the area around the park and to recommend a good restaurant
if your arrival time is before late afternoon.
Day
2 Lima – Arequipa,
afternoon city tour
Today your Tour Controller will return to transfer you in private
to the airport for your short internal flight to ‘the white
city’ of Arequipa. Arequipa is a pleasant, colonial city:
better known as the “white city” as its centre is
mainly built of white, volcanic rock. Upon arrival you will be
met by your expert local guide who will transfer you in private
to your centrally-located hotel before taking an afternoon city
tour, this will be followed by a visit to an alpaca textiles factory.
Your evening is then free to relax and wander around this pleasant
city centre, which offers many fine restaurants and places of
entertainment.
Day 3
Transfer to Colca Canyon
After breakfast you will be collected for the start of your tour
to the beautiful Colca Canyon in our private mini bus, this tour
take you into the heart of the Alpaca farming communities as you
travel through the national alpaca and vicuna reserve. You will
be introduced to the head of the village that will show you through
the process of animal husbandry. You will also have the opportunity
to visit the hot springs. Your night’s stay will be in a
hacienda style guesthouse offering friendly and comfortable accommodation.

4 Visit to alpaca centre
After breakfast you will begin your full day’s visit to
the alpaca farming communities where you will be able to see alpacas
in their natural environment. You will be able to observe traditional
farming methods in this inhospitable environment. You will return
to your hacienda for the night and your evening is free to relax
and enjoy.

5 Transfer to Mallkini Ranch
This morning you will be leaving the beautiful Colca Canyon to
take our private bus to the district of Puno (a 6-7 hour journey
by road). You will visit Cruz del Condor on the way to see the
famous condors in flight before continuing your journey. Here
you will arrive at the famous Mallkini Ranch, with over 3,000
hectares and more than 2,000 alpacas, Mallkini is the largest
private alpaca and adventure centre in Peru, located in the heart
of the alpaca country in the area known as Azangaro. Accommodations
are in private rooms within the ranch. Your evening will be spent
in getting to know your hosts and learning about the centre.

6 Full days’ activities
at Mallkini Ranch
Today you will follow the chosen program of events. The natural
surroundings of Mallkini, makes it a special place to undertake
alpaca clinics, workshops and practice outdoor sports such llama
trekking, horseback riding, hiking and much more! Mallkini has
the best and safest accommodation in the area, where visitors
can experience the life in the Peruvian highlands without sacrificing
any comfort. As a breeding and genetics centre, Mallkini is working
in programs of carefully selecting and purchasing the bests alpacas
found in the Peruvian Sierra, breeding techniques, nutrition,
reproduction and research all combine to produce the world’s
finest breeding stock. These programs are aimed to have the best
alpaca breeds in Peru and export worldwide. The level of excellence
to be found in the tutorial programmes offer a wealth of practical
as well of technical information.

7 Full day at ranch

Day 8
Transfer to Puno
Your morning can be taken in studies or is free to enjoy the many
activities on offer such as horse riding or mountain biking. After
lunch you will be transferred in our private vehicle to the town
of Puno on the banks of the Great Lake Titicaca and check into
your centrally located hotel. Your evening is free to explore
and relax in this busy but interesting town.

9 Great Lake Titicaca
After breakfast you will be met by your guide and escorted throughout
your day tour of the Great Lake Titicaca. First you will transfer
to the Harbour of Puno, on Lake Titicaca, where you will board
our boat. The first port of call will be the incredible floating
island of Uros; here you will see the way these people live on
these most unusual islands. From here you continue onto the Island
of Taquile where your guide will escort you around explaining
the way of life and traditions of these Quechuan people. Their
lifestyle remains the same as it has done for hundreds of years
with very little influence from modern times. You will then have
some time to take lunch, perhaps you might like to try a delicious
freshwater trout dish fresh from the lake before rejoining your
boat for the return journey back to Puno. Your evening is again
free to relax and enjoy Puno.
Day
10 Orient Express train
to Cuzco
This morning you will be transferred to the main train station
and take the incredible journey to Cuzco, the Inca’s capital.
This journey is one of the great train journeys of the world and
takes approximately ten hours. The comfortable carriage of the
Orient Express ‘Andean Explorer’ offers restaurant
service and a carriage attendant providing beverages and light
snacks during your relaxing and interesting journey. The train
also has an excellent observation car at the rear offering clear
and spectacular views. Set amongst stunning hillsides and boasting
a lively and varied nightlife, Cuzco is a destination itself.
Its proximity to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu help in making
it the most visited city in all of Peru. Upon your arrival in
Cuzco you will be transferred in private by your guide, Edwin,
to your hotel where he will discuss your next few days visiting
the areas around Cuzco. The evening is free to enjoy this beautiful,
historic city at your own pace.
Day
11 Sacred Valley
Today you start your relaxed private tour of the Sacred Valley.
On the way you will visit Sacsayhuaman, one of the best examples
of Inca stonework. From here we will travel to a variety of sites
including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before arriving
at the small village of Pisac, a picturesque town, which is the
gateway to the Sacred Valley and site of the famous Pisac market.
Here you have an opportunity to view the many artisans work before
transferring to a beautiful country inn where you will have the
evening free to relax and enjoy the facilities on offer.
Day
12 Sacred Valley to Machu
Picchu
This morning you will be transferred to the small station of Ollantaytambo,
at the end of the valley. From here you will take your beautiful
train journey through the changing microclimates as the train
ride takes you to the small village of Aguas Calientes. Here you
leave your train and you take the bus up to the city ruins of
Machu Picchu. Peruvian Secrets provides the services of a professional
local guide who will reveal some of the mysteries that surround
this fascinating place. After your visit we return for mid afternoon
to Aguas Calientes where we will take the return train journey
to Cuzco. Upon arrival we transfer back to your Cuzco hotel where
you will have the evening free to explore Cuzco by night, perhaps
to take in a fine restaurant and sample one of the many places
of entertainment.
Day
13 Return to Lima
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your
internal flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima you will check in
to the Hotel Faraona once again for your final night’s stay
in Lima. Your afternoon will be free for you to take a city tour
or just relax and explore on your own. Should you wish your guide
will be happy to return to escort you out for the night to the
area of Barranco where you will find some of Lima’s best
nightlife, restaurants and cliff-top coastal views.
Day
14 Final day and international
flight home
Today you will have a selection of options offered to you by your
guide. Early evening you will be transferred to the airport for
your international flight home.
